There has been much buzz lately in the sports world and most of it has been due to the
Patriots' recent signings. Many people ask: what would possess grouchy, old Bill Belichick to sign this many top free agents the way that he has stayed away from his whole career as a
coach? No one knows the answer.
Maybe it was the realization that the Patriots were AWFUL last year or, the fact that Tom Brady just won a Super Bowl in his first year as the quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Even though no one knows what Bill was thinking, I think that we all can agree that he signed these players because he knows that the Pats have to be better.
Over the past two days, the Pats have made tons of moves to fill the holes in their roster. First, they brought back Cam Newton. I think that this was done so that we could have some stability at quarterback, so if all else fails, we could have a starter in week one. Then, the Pats proceeded to sign wide receivers Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor. They also signed tight ends Jonnu Smith and Hunter Henry. All four of these offensive pickups provide a spark to our poor offense. These are all big-time playmakers and great weapons for any quarterback to have.
The Patriots also made some crucial defensive moves in signing OLB Matthew Judon, DT Davon Godchaux, DE Henry Anderson, and S Jalen Mills. All of these players are well-established in their positions and are known for being very talented. This will give our defense a tremendous spark. These were all very necessary moves.
This is what the Patriots needed. The Pats are back!
