The Celts Are Back

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

The Celtics are back! After reaching the midway point of the 2021-22 NBA campaign, the Celtics looked like they were in trouble. They were 23-24 and spiraling downward. With all of the trade talks centered around either being buyers or sellers before the deadline, new GM Brad Stevens has a lot on his plate to dissect.

When we played the Wizards a couple of nights ago, the Celtics were hoping that their star player, Jayson Tatum, would break out of his shooting slump, and did he ever! Tatum scored 51 points on the way to a 116-87 Celtics win. The Cs finally saw what their ideal starting five could do together (Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford, and Williams). All five played an amazing game but there was still one question on the back of everybody's mind: could the Celtics do this multiple nights in a row?

Last night, the Celtics faced the Sacramento Kings. I was at the game and personally, I didn't know what to think. This season has been a tale of two teams: we'll go out and dominate one of the best teams in the league one night, but then lose to an awful team the next. We have no consistency.

As the game tipped off, it didn't take long for the fans to see that the Celtics were going to win. They flat out wanted it more. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 38-13. By the end of the second, it was 63-30. And when the final buzzer sounded, the Celtics blew out the Kings to the tune of 128-75! Jayson Tatum led the way with 36 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists. Jaylen Brown also chipped in a nice 30 points, 10 rebounds performance! The Kings were no match for us. They had little energy and that helped us dominate every single aspect of this game.

For the first time in what seems like ages, the Celtics have blown out teams in back-to-back games. Our offense is clicking on all cylinders, and our defense is relentless! If we keep playing as we have been for the past two games, the Celtics will be a real threat in the East. They have shown what they can accomplish when everyone is healthy and that they're a real contender.

The league had better watch out because the Celtics are coming to play.
