Lamarcus Aldridge Retires

Lamarcus Aldridge, power forward for the Brooklyn Nets announced his retirement recently after being diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat. Even though he has only been on the Nets for a matter of weeks, everyone saw how much of an impact that he had already made.

Aldridge began his career on the Portland Trail Blazers and played there from 2006-2015. He started at the center position and was one of their key players. Over the course of these years, he became an all-star and one of the most feared players in the league because of his versatility. Aldridge was known for being able to post up, shoot a mid-range, and knock down threes when needed. In his rookie year, he also made the All-Rookie Team. He was one of the best players in the Trail Blazers' history!

After his time with the Blazers, Aldridge went to San Antonio to play for the Spurs. With the help of coach Greg Popovich, Lamarcus expanded his game and became an even better player. By playing with talented players like Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili, Aldridge's game improved dramatically. He made it to the Western Conference Finals in 2017 but got swept by the Golden State Warriors with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green. He was one of the greatest players in Spurs history.

Recently, Aldridge signed with the Brooklyn Nets, the super-team in the East. With this signing, the Nets become even more of a powerhouse with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, James Harden, Blake Griffin, and now Lamarcus Aldridge. Wow, what a team! Aldridge played well in his first few appearances scoring in double digits a few times, but sadly his career just ended due to an irregular heartbeat.

Lamarcus Aldridge had an incredible career and was one of the best power forwards in our league. I wish him the best in his health.
