Fantasy Football Season Is Here!

It's almost draft day! Everybody's fantasy football drafts are coming up around the corner and the preparations for it are heating up. This is many sports fans (including me) favorite time of the year! Everyone is hoping for it to be their year, but frankly it won't happen unless you spend plenty of time preparing.

I love fantasy football. It is my single greatest favorite thing. I spend countless hours throughout the course of the 18-week season making sure my team is the best that it can be every single week.

In my draft (which is being held on Labor Day, September 5th), I have the 7th overall pick. We do a snake draft like most leagues do, so drafting from my slot is pretty beneficial for me. Over the hundreds of mock drafts that I have done throughout the past few weeks, I've had a few different choices of who I can select from the 7th spot.

First, there's a pair of Minnesota Vikings: Dalvin Cook and Justin Jefferson. Cook was injured for a solid part of the 2021-2022 campaign, so he didn't put up the numbers we're all used to seeing from him. Jefferson had a great year and was one of the most targeted wide receivers in the NFL. Still, I would not go with either of these players. I love Dalvin Cook, but with Kevin O'Connell (the former OC of the Los Angeles Rams) as the Vikings new head coach, Justin Jefferson is going to take on the role that Cooper Kupp had last year. That means fewer carries and targets for Cook. I also don't love the selection of Jefferson here because I think that good running backs are extremely scarce in this year's draft.

The other option that I have at the 7th overall pick is Najee Harris. He's going into the second year of his career and last year he was a beast. Najee is a great pick because of his upside as a RB1 and as a receiver. He caught the most passes out of any running back in the league last year, and with the Steelers quarter back room the way it is, you should expect tons of check downs to Harris this upcoming year.

No matter who you want to select or what pick you have in your fantasy draft, you will get a very high leverage player in the first round of your draft. I firmly believe that with the exceptions of Jonathon Taylor, CMC, and Austin Ekeler, Najee Harris is the best option in your fantasy football drafts. He is going to be a force this season.
