My favorite time of the year has just begun--the NBA playoffs. 20 teams (if you count the play-in games) battle it out to see who will take home the Larry O'Brian Trophy. As a lifelong Boston Celtics fan, I think it's pretty easy to assume who I'm rooting for. Let's take a deeper look at what the Celtics need to do to advance to the second round of this year's playoffs.
The Celtics are taking on the Atlanta Hawks in round one. This series should be a breeze because Boston is significantly stronger in every facet over Atlanta. Although the Hawks have Trae Young, one of the NBA's best scorers, the Celtics have Marcus Smart and Derrick White, two of the NBA's best defenders. They should do just fine in locking up the three-point assassin. On the offensive side of things for the Celtics, we should have no problem attacking the paint versus one of the league's worst defenses. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are going to have a field day with this horrid defense. If for some reason the Hawks decide to crash every rebound and whenever we drive into the paint, there will be shooters wide open for three-pointers on almost every play. Atlanta will have no match for our unstoppable scoring and lock-down defense.
My prediction for this series is Celtics in five. We are so extremely better than this Hawks team and it will be shown throughout the first round. The only reason why I'm saying that this series will last five games instead of four is because I think the atmosphere will be crazy in Atlanta and they'll be able to steal a game at home. The Hawks will play better due to the engagement from the fans and that will help them win. Other than that one, they have no chance at winning another game.
This series should last no more than four or five games, which ultimately is good because we'll get a couple of days off to rest and prepare for our next series against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Let's go Celtics! I know you have this in you! Let's fight for banner 18!
